Learning by doing has guided the efforts of the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools since Professor Dewey opened its doors over a century ago. In 1901 the University of Chicago combined the Laboratory School with the Chicago Institute, a private progressive normal school that had been founded by Francis W. The original University Elementary School was founded in Chicago in 1896 by American educator John Dewey John Dewey as a research and demonstration centre for the Department of Pedagogy at the University of Chicago University of Chicago.
I designed and carved 13 relief panels depicting high school athletes for the new gymnasium at the University of Chicago Laboratory School.

The main building consists of five smaller, interconnected buildings: Judd, Blaine, Belfield, Middle School and U-High.
