Weird: Motorist Discovers Dying Wife On Road
A motorist went to help a woman who had been run over by a car - only to discover it was his dying wife. Devastated James Peters was on his way to pick up wife Susan when he found her in the road. 1
The next morning he was pulling out of the garage onto the driveway to go to work. His wife ran to the door to give him his lunch, which he had forgotten. She went as far as the porch and fainted. Her husband got out of the car to see what was the matter. He saw an eight-year-old girl imbedded in the grill of his car. 2
Bear Camp Road came into the national spotlight in late 2006 when James Kim, his wife Kati, and their two daughters attempted to reach Gold Beach via this route. They missed an Interstate 5 exit to their intended route, Oregon Route 42, and decided to take Bear Camp Road instead. Late on the night of November 25, 2006, they missed signs warning of possible snow and continued up the mountain road. At the intersection of the BLM and FS sections of the road, they accidentally turned off of Bear Camp Road and eventually ended up lost 15 miles down an unpaved side road before stopping for the night. A snowstorm trapped them at this location. 3
The family waited for rescue, surviving on limited resources. After spending six days waiting for rescue, James Kim left the car to seek help. He and his wife had attempted to locate their position using area road maps, and had estimated that the small town of Galice, Oregon was only four miles away. They were actually 33 miles from the town by road. 4
IN A rare move, the Family Court has told a dying man he may leave a “time capsule”, comprising a letter and DVD, for the 11-year-old daughter he has not seen for years. The main purpose of the time capsule is to exonerate the girl for her father’s death. 5
