Urgent: Rca Dome Deflation

The roof of the RCA Dome was deflated Wednesday morning.

The fabric roof on the RCA Dome will be coming down in a ceremony on September 24th.

The Indiana Stadium and Convention Building Authority has announced that former Indianapolis Mayor Bill Hudnut will flip a switch that day to turn off the fans that keep the dome inflated.

Downtown Indianapolis’ skyline will be quite a bit different by Wednesday afternoon following a slow deflation of the RCA Dome.

The RCA Dome has been replaced as the home of the Indianapolis Colts by Lucas Oil Stadium.

The Dome’s covering is eight acres in size and has two layers of fabric that are supported by a series of cables and fans.

The older stadium is being demolished to make room for an expansion of the Indiana Convention Center.
