The Louisiana High School Athletic Association today announced a pilot program to provide access to the STAR program - a first-of-its kind, online sportsmanship training tool - to student-athletes, coaches, parents, and officials across the state in 2008-0 The award will be given to LHSAA member schools that best exemplify sportsmanship across all athletic conduct on and off the field. Commissioner Kenneth Henderson and the LHSAA have outlined specific criteria that will qualify Louisiana LHSAA member schools for consideration for this award. The LHSAA announces 10 premier broadcast for the 2008-09 high school sports year. Beginning with the 2006-07 school year all full time college students desiring to coach any LHSAA sport must be CECP certified. The LHSAA’s Coaches Education and Certification Program was implemented during the 1998-99 school year so that non-faculty individuals could be certified to serve as head and/or assistant coaches at LHSAA member high schools.

All registration done the week of the CECP class will incur an additional $25 “week of” fee. Registration forms must be completed by the non-faculty individual, signed by an LHSAA principal and returned to the LHSAA office along with the $125 enrollment fee no later than one week prior to the class date. Schools must list all non-faculty coaches on the current year’s Non-Faculty Coaches Roster Form, which is due in the LHSAA office by October 15th.

“High school programs have supplied the fundamentals for players on almost every NFL roster over the years. The LHSAA is proud to partner with Piccadilly Restaurants who shares our commitment to promote and support the activities of our 400 member schools and 85,000 student athletes,” said LHSAA Commissioner Kenny Henderson.

Erin Coogan, who has designed, maintained, and overseen the site since its launch, is the architect of the new site.The website plans on keeping the focus on administrative and informational material for the principals and coaches of the LHSAA and its 400 member schools. An official announcement from the LHSAA has been sent to each member school.

The LHSAA and Nola.com have partnered to present a high impact interactive prep sports portal for Louisiana.

Late registration must be called in by an LHSAA principal and will be accepted on a first come first serve basis if there is room available.

The Louisiana High School Athletic Association, more commonly known as the LHSAA, is the agency which regulates and promotes the interscholastic athletic competitions of all high schools in the state of Louisiana.
