Sonny Siaki the Samoan Wrestler

Unlike many Samoans in professional wrestling, he is not part of the large Anoa’i or Fatu family.

As 2003 began, Siaki split his time between X Division title defences in TNA and making appearances in independent organizations such as Xtreme Pro Wrestling and Live Action Wrestling. He joined Turnbuckle Championship Wrestling and got some training from Dusty Rhodes.

On April 24, 2005 at TNA Lockdown he and Apolo defeated Lance Hoyt and Chris Candido in a steel cage tag match. He had hoped to sign with WWE but instead ended up in California’s Urban Wrestling Alliance as “Money”.

Siaki then re-debuted with Afa, as The Samoan Fight Club, in the new development territory, under the World Wrestling Entertainment name, Florida Championship Wrestling. After his school friend Brad Cain notified Siaki that the WCW Power Plant was holding tryouts in early 1999, Siaki attended the tryout and was awarded a WCW developmental contract.

In January, 2004, Siaki almost lost his job in TNA after refusing to sign Jeff Jarrett ’s Loyalty Pledge and had to defeat Kid Kash to stay with the company. Siaki played inside linebacker at East Carolina University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in health and fitness in 1998.

On the premiere of TNA on PPV, the Flying Elvises defeated Low Ki, Jerry Lynn, and A.J. Styles in a six man tag match. On July 27, 2004 in Columbus, GA, Siaki and David Young defeated Jason Cross and John Bogey to claim the vacant GCW Tag Team title.

On September 17, 2008, Siaki retired from professional wrestling because he plans to donate one of his kidneys to his dying brother, Bernard. After nine months, the UWA folded and Siaki joined Turnbuckle Championship Wrestling where he received further training from the TCW owner, Dusty Rhodes.

After training with WWE’s new Florida Championship Wrestling, WWE released Siaki on September 14, 2006.

Estrada, Jimmy Yang and Siaki were part of the Flying Elvises, who defeated Jerry Lynn, A.J. Styles and Low-Ki in a six-man match on TNA’s debut. My brother Bernard who’s only 35 yrs old, was diagnosed with Renal Kidney Failure, a situation where one of his kidneys has completely shut down and the other is functioning at 35%.

But then, in December 2002, three major events in Siaki’s young career took place.
