September 7 - Menuism reviewers are truly awesome! On that note, I”d love to introduce you.

If you want good food, an at-home atmosphere, & waitresses that seem like family - then Duncan’s is the place to stop! We’ve been going to Duncan’s for several years, & we’ve failed to notice it until the reviewer mentioned it.

Menuism is your personal dining journal and restaurant resource for top dishes and online menus.

Restaurant price information is based on meal cost per person, excluding drinks, tax and tip.

Despite the crowd, we were excited to discover a table at the rear of the restaurant, and patiently waited while a server cleared away remnants from the previous diners.

The wait staff does a great job and so do the cooks - if you order lightly toasted white, crispy bacon and well done scrambled that is exactly what you will get.

There is so much about Shepherds that is wrong that it would, in a more elegant age, merit a pamphlet rather than a review. This is a man who likes his food and dislikes the kind of pretentious ‘concept’ restaurants that has sprouted all over London in the last decade or so.

Last Saturday I decided to treat a friend of mine to a dinner at a restaurant, the Painted Heron, that received one of the most glowing reviews I have ever come across. About 15-20 years ago, the owner of a Sydney restaurant sued Leo Schofield, restaurant critic for The Sydney Morning Herald over a bad review, and the restaurant won and was awarded some absurd amount of money in damages .

If I remember correctly, another ridiculous aspect of the Schofield case was the evidence that takings at the restaurant in question actually increased following the damning Schofield review.

Mr Norman’s stupid actions have only highlighted how bad his restaurant is, so he’s been very foolish accentuating this poor review.

Apparently, many customers have written letters to the Telegraph expressing support to the restaurant with colourful insults directed at Mr Norman.

Comments: Duncan’s isn’t the type of place that needs any reviewing. it’s a place to get great comfort food with no frills.

The nicest thing about Duncan’s food is perhaps the “ask & ye shall receive” attitude. Overall, we give this home-away-from home a 4-Star rating.

The thing we couldn’t seem to get around was the lack of care put into the food and, most obviously, the surroundings at Duncan’s.

People go to Duncan’s because it is almost impossible to find a process food on the menu. The service was pleasant, and the good folks at Duncan’s did their best to get orders out in a timely manner, hustling to refresh coffee mugs and haul away dirty plates.

The offerings are a no-frills assortment of basic deli sandwiches, eggs, pancakes and hot plates featuring either turkey, beef and fish. The next time I travel through the Albany area to Montreal, Duncan’s will definitely be a must stop.

Comments: About 24 years ago, after driving several hours from New Hampshire on an annual trek to a large craft show in western Pennsylvania, we pulled into Duncan’s for the very first time. We were looking for something a bit more substantial, and opted for a more traditional hungry-man meal: scrambled eggs, bacon, toast and home fries .

Even to the uninitiated, it was obvious that the folks at Duncan’s Dairy Bar take the most important meal of the day very seriously.

Our Sunday morning trip to Duncan’s Dairy Bar was akin to reading an average pulpy beach novel: The action was feverish and the buildup tense, yet the final outcome felt like a bit of a letdown.

Seriously, in fact, that on a recent Sunday morning, Duncan’s felt more like rush hour at Grand Central Station.

daily, Duncan’s offers a few supper entrees to go along with standard-issue breakfast and lunch selections.

Maybe the tofu cronies have your mind warped, but Duncans is a great place to stop for some food before heading for some fishing on the Hannock.
