I’ve spent some time with Melody Barnes in a Judiciary Committee related matter and she’s a very solid and talented individual.

She served as Chief Counsel to Ted Kennedy on the Senate Judiciary Committee from 1995 to 2003, was CAP’s Executive Vice President for Policy, and then left to join Obama’s campaign as policy director.

From 1995 to 2003 Barnes served as chief counsel to Senator Edward Kennedy on the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Barnes, a Richmond native, is one of the top African-Americans named to the new administration.
