The band, then known as “Blink”, originally comprised of vocalist and guitarist Tom DeLonge, drummer Scott Raynor and vocalist and bassist Mark Hoppus.

Enema of the State went on to sell over 15 million copies worldwide making it the band’s bestselling album.
After the album’s release, midway through a U.S. tour in 1998, drummer Scott Raynor left the band.
It featured re-recordings of some Flyswatter songs, and also some new songs, some of which would go on to be re-recorded and re-released on the band’s Buddha album.
The new-school punk trio blink-182 was formed in the suburbs of San Diego, California around guitarist/vocalist Tom DeLonge, bassist/vocalist Mark Hoppus, and drummer Scott Raynor.
DeLonge went on to play alternative rock in a band called Angels & Airwaves, while Hoppus and Barker continued in a similar genre with their band +44.
The singles received very high airplay from radio stations and music video channels, the album sold 313,000 copies in its first week debuting #3 on the charts in the United States, which was less than their previous album Take off Your Pants and Jacket, which sold more than 350,000 copies in its first week and topped the charts.
Music critics agreed that this album represents a more “mature” Blink than seen in the past, noticeable by the absence of songs with toilet humor or jokes that Blink was known for in the past.
Bandmembers also continued on with other projects: Barker who had previously released an album with DeLonge as Boxcar Racer continued playing with the Transplants and running his clothing company, Famous Stars and Straps.

Body: WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. — Hours after performing for thousands of South Carolina college students, former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and celebrity DJ AM were critically injured in a fiery Learjet crash that killed four people, authorities said Saturday.
