When the news was read about the Mayor being nominated for the best mayor in the world, the female anchor stepped into the role of commentator and obviously forgot that she was reporting the news and who her audience was. Her comments were unprofessional, divisive, and personal.

Local stations *tend* to be biased toward local demographics, or the special interests of execs at the station and not a nation wide cause or political view. The only relation local channels have with the Fox News Channel is the name, basically.

FOX 13 airs first run programming and sports events from Fox Broadcasting. The station also offers a local morning talk show, court TV shows, reality shows, talk shows, off-network sitcoms, and over 30 hours of local news programming each week. The station also carries 4Kids TV on Saturday mornings.

Note: There have been two television stations in Salt Lake City licensed with the KSTU calls: the current Fox affiliate on VHF channel 13 (analog) and UHF channel 28 (digital), and an independent station that broadcast on UHF channel 20 from 1978 through 1987. Both are mentioned in this article, as they were the same intellectual unit; however, these were two different licenses.

On November 9, 1987; MWT moved the channel 20 intellectual unit (call letters, staff, programming and Fox affiliation) to channel 13 and returned the original channel 20 license to the FCC. MWT went on the air with the new KSTU on channel 13 under Program Test Authority. It requested a license to cover the CP on November 16, which the FCC granted on March 7, 1988. 10

Fox officials would not say whether Linger would be allowed to return to his job on Monday. A story on the station’s Web site says “Fox 13 is aware of the matter and is currently reviewing it.”

posted a short item on the arrest on its Web site this morning. In the arrest report, Linger gave his employer name as New World Communications; when Fox purchased WTVT from New World Communications in 1997, it structured the ownership under a company named New World Communications of Tampa.

The funny part of this is they are so convinced that their news operation is such a selling point they have the QAM encrypted to where you must subscribe to their HD Digital Tier - all the while the FCC makes them keep the other locals non-encrypted. They even have 5c enabled on 609 - like someone wants to steal their local news coverage and put it on the internet.

The lawyer’s announcement came minutes after Fox released a statement naming Bill Schneider Vice President and General Manager of WTVT, effectively replacing Linger, who had been on leave since his arrest. Fox’s statement regarding Schneider — who will come to Tampa next week from KDVR-TV, the Fox-owned station in Denver — does not mention Linger or his arrest.
