Did you know this about operation baghdad pups

Operation Baghdad Pups continues to receive five new requests a week and Scroggs says she hopes volunteers can go back “as often as we can.”

The program called, “Operation Baghdad Pups,” will assist in arranging transportation of animals who have become unit mascots and companions to the military men and women.

Five more pets were expected Sunday, and then six additional ones are slated to arrive today.

Army regulations prohibit soldiers from keeping pets, but many do.

The mission to bring the animal stateside despite military regulations against doing so almost ended when the puppy went missing.

Hope and Jasmine are the first cats ever transported from Iraq to the U.S.

It is thanks to Charlie and Charlie Company that SPCA International founded Operation Baghdad Pups and is currently working to bring 13 more companion animals out of the war zone.

Baghdad Pups has brought to America five more Iraqi canines since Charlie’s homecoming: K-Pot and Liberty in February, and Bags, Oreo and Socks in mid-March.

A team of committed patriots collaborated to bring Charlie home - from the official Baghdad Pups sponsor, I Love Dogs, Inc, to commercial airlines and Iraq-based American contractors.

Later Thursday, Charlie will take a walk on the National Mall to stretch his legs after his 14-hour trip in the cargo-hold.

The dogs may need home training especially housebreaking.

At 7:00 am at Dulles International Airport, outside Washington Action News waited an hour as the special passengers on the flight from Kuwait; went through customs.

Pam’s husband, a project supervisor in Baghdad, rescued Hope after the kitten was badly burned riding under a supply truck.

Promised a moment upon arrival with Beans I never got that opportunity, nor any update per our local channel 5 ABC affiliate.

Most of the animals who have befriended soldiers were adopted as very young pups or kittens.

“SPCA International covers the cost of transportation on the Iraq side, but the most difficult part is getting every animal located in Iraq to the Baghdad airport,” Scroggs said.

War is tough.

February 15, Charlie has a veterinarian appointment scheduled in Arlington, Virginia for a full check up.
