A former world champion in Latin-American Dance, he appeared on Season 5 of the ABC television series, “Dancing with the Stars ” with actress Jennie Garth , and was eliminated during the 7th Week of Season 6, earning 6th place with actress Shannon Elizabeth.

In 1998 Derek moved to London, England and was educated at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts until 2004.

On this foundation, he built a career, which has included professional competition, television work, and roles in the West End Theatre.

In addition to being a fantastic dancer and actor, Derek is in a band, created by himself and Mark Ballas, Almost Amy.

He developed his ballroom dance craft with Corky & Shirley Ballas, World Champion Ballroom dancers, the couple with whom he resided.

Derek is a former World Champion Latin American dancer, and has demonstrated and competed all over the world.

It’s located at the SoftScrub booth, before the show begins at the Soft Scrub Booth.

Hough is one of Bruno Tonioli ’s panelists on BBC One’s DanceX, the first episode of which aired on July 14, 2007.

He and Mark Ballas started a band called “Almost Amy” in 2005.

Derek’s theatre credits include: Ren in Footloose at the Novello Theatre and national tour 2006 and May-June 2007, Choo-Choo in Top Cat-the Muscial workshop ; Company in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, London Palladium; Lead Dancer in Fosse Tribute, Grosvenor House, Company in Jack and the Beanstalk, Theatre Royal, Windsor; Cliff in Cabaret, Avondale Theatre; Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar, Millfield Theatre; Master Thief in Master Thief, UST Company, USA.

Before this, Hough’s theatre work included playing the lead in Jesus Christ Superstar at the Millfield Theatre, and dancing in the company in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the London Palladium.

Hough was born in 1985 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
