Dave Matthews Band Death - Latest Info

Two of Seattle?s biggest artists — local indie-rock heroes Death Cab for Cutie and longtime resident Dave Matthews — took a back seat on Friday to a name even bigger than theirs: the Dalai Lama. Death Cab was the unlisted add-on to the April 11 KeyArena event, on which Matthews and longtime guitar crony Tim Reynolds were billed second to the Tibetan Buddhist leader. Even more unusually, Matthews was one of the Dalai Lama?s interviewers during a show that began in late afternoon: doors opened around 4 p.m., and the final song of Matthews? It was His Holiness?s second public appearance of the day, following a morning panel at the Bank of America Arena at the University of Washington campus; both were part of a five-day tour of the city?s larger venues sponsored by Seeds of Compassion, a local nonprofit. 1

Matthews and his band spoke even louder with a terrific set that underscored why they’ve been one of the best live bands in the business for over a decade now. While some of their songs can sound a little “white bread” on the radio, in concert the band jolts those same songs to life with clever and unorthodox arrangements and fantastic musicianship. What other popular band gives a violinist and a horn player such prominent roles? 6

Songs like “So Much To Say” can explode from a quiet acoustic shuffle to a noisome funk-rock blast, then shift sideways into a drum solo or an acoustic jam. Every member of the Dave Matthews Band is tops with their instrument, and their collective sound is built around their individual styles. 7

Ambrosia Healy, the band’s publicist, said the band’s show Tuesday night in Los Angeles was not canceled. Saxophonist Jeff Coffin, who played with Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, had been sitting in for Moore during the band’s summer tour. 4

Everyday Lyrics is the closing song from the album ‘Everyday’ and is sung by the Dave Matthews Band. It was aired on 27th February, 2001. All the songs are written by Glen Ballard and Dave Matthews themselves. It was a hit in the United States. This song has been worked over and is the latest remake of the DMB song #36 which has often been played in live albums like Live at Red Rocks and Listener Supported. 3

Fishbone frontman Angelo Moore will be making a rare solo appearance tonight (Wed) at the Joint in Los Angeles during the antiMusic sponsored Happenin’ Harry’s Hellhole! Nehemiah of The Real World will also perform and the night will be capped off by an all-star jam by Happenin’ Harry and the Haptones. 8
