Clay Aiken becomes a father - and gay
Clay Aiken became a father on Friday morning when his son Parker was born to Jaymes Foster.
Just on the heels of the news that new dad Clay Aiken is back in town to resume his role in Spamalot! comes this long-overdue, incredibly awesome announcement, courtesy of People magazine. Clay Aiken is finally admitting he’s gay!
The cover shot is in the great tradition of Ellen DeGeneres and Lance Bass’s straightforward “Everybody Already Knew” comings out.
Clay Aiken will appear on the cover of this week’s People magazine with the headline, “Yes, I’m Gay.” An angry Clay Aiken clashed Thursday with Diane Sawyer for asking him whether he is gay.
The headline reads: “New dad Clay Aiken - Yes, I’m Gay.” A secondary headline reads:
“The ‘Idol’ star opens up about his emotional decision to come out: ‘I cannot raise a child to lie or hide things.’”
The baby’s mother is Aiken’s friend and record producer Jaymes Foster. Aiken, who gained fame as the runner-up on “American Idol” in 2003, rarely addressed the frequent rumors about his sexuality.
In an interview with The Associated Press two years ago, he said: “I don’t really feel like I have anybody to answer to but myself and God and the people I love.” The multiplatinum singer recently released the CD “On My Way Here” and made his Broadway debut this spring in “Monty Python’s Spamalot.”
