Back on Super Tuesday in February 2008, MTV street reporter Dani Carlson made a live video interview with Palin using a mobile phone running the Flixwagon application. In the interview, Palin talks about energy independence, being a Washington outsider, and of course, Alaska. Also, Palin mentions her support of Ron Paul, but not McCain.
Sarah Palin is the Republican candidate for the Vice President of the United States, the first woman to be nominated by the Republican party for VP. She’s currently serving her first term as the governor of Alaska. She has five children ranging in age from 18 years to 6 months, and is married to a Yup’ik Alaskan native.
By the way, it’s absolutely worth it to sit through this entire video (or speed through it) to see the tense exchange Palin has with the male anchor at the end. Needless to say, he probably didn’t think Palin would ultimately become governor of Alaska or a VP candidate. He also doesn’t exactly seem to appreciate a woman doing the sports news.
The ABC anchor interviewed GOP presidential candidate John McCain at the Republican convention last week. He said he thought hard about it, but decided not to ask questions then about Palin’s family, including her 17-year-old pregnant daughter.
The first-term Alaska governor has given speeches alongside McCain since becoming his surprise pick on Aug. 29. But Democrats have already begun to question why Palin has not been put before reporters to answer questions.
So McCain has chosen Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate. She’s young - 44 - and a self-described “hockey mom.” Because Palin is relatively unknown on the national level (she’s been governor since 2006, and before that was mayor of a town of 8,000 people), a lot of people are already identifying this as a ploy to snag the votes of disaffected Hillary Clinton supporters.
September 11, 2008 - McCain’s selection of Sarah Palin might have energized the GOP base, but some nooks and crannies of the GOP aren’t feeling the jolt. One nook in particular being GOP foreign policy experts.
Palin, campaigning with McCain in the Midwest on Friday, has not publicly expressed a view on the so-called “pray away the gay” movement. Larry Kroon, senior pastor at Palin’s church, was not available to discuss the matter Friday, said a church worker who declined to give her name.
And earlier today, John McCain made Sarah Palin, the governor of Alaska and mother of five, his choice for vice president. While Palin is not the first woman to be selected as a running mate, (that honor belongs to Geraldine Ferraro), she is the first to do it with a baby at home. Palin’s youngest son Trig is only ten months old!
The second link is Huckabee saying it was just a phrase and he felt Obama meant nothing by it the third is a link to John McCain using the phrase YET AGAIN himself! He has become a little absent-minded. John McCain surely forgets a lot. And of course when that happens you start to forget things. If there is anything that is evidence that John McCain is JUST PLAIN LYING about working constructively across the aisle, this in fact is it. He is criticizing in a personal way, directly, Hillary Clinton’s attempt to put together a health care plan for Americans. They say whatever comes into their heads (which is obviously not much.
Unlike Barack Obama, whom McCain has so emphatically condemned as not-ready, Palin hasn’t run for or served in the Senate. Nor has she run for president, which would have required her to think through and take positions on critical issues from the war in Iraq to the war on terror, from Iran’s nuclear ambitions to the Russian incursion into Georgia, from the emerging power of China to the march of globalization. She hasn’t debated tough opponents a dozen or so times or faced aggressive, often downright hostile reporters on a daily basis. Her slim record undermines one of McCain’s most effective arguments against Obama.
Sarah Palin is ignorent. She does not believe in evolution, she does not believe in man-made global warming, she is against abortion even in the case of rape, she is for drilling everywhere, and she possibly pretended to have a baby to cover for her 16 year old daughter. John McCain is totally irresponsible for even considering her.
