Af Portal
Af Portal
The portal is a Web-based system developed to incorporate as many Air Force information applications as possible. This integration will allow systems such as the virtual Military Personnel Flight (vMPF) or functional area applications, such as a munitions ordering or parts tracking system, to be accessible from one Internet site. 3
Register now and experience what the AF Portal has to offer. For more information, call the local portal campaign POC, 2 Lt Robert Cowan, at 301-981-4498 or send an e-mail to AMC’s Air Force Portal Team at amc.afportalteam@amc.af.mil. 6
Personnel must have a Common Access Card (CAC) in order to register for the AF Portal. This is consistent with DoD policy requiring all personnel to have a CAC by April 2004. 2
The key benefit to such integration is the idea of a single user login. Once a user logs on, the portal then authenticates a user into the selected application. Thus, with each new application integrated into the portal, users will have fewer Internet addresses as well as usernames and passwords to remember. 4
Once a valid Form 41 is received, the AF Portal Operations Team will create your account. The Form 41 will still have to be signed by the appropriate approval level. A signature of Security Officer validating a National Agency Check (NAC) and a signature of an AF Military/Civilian sponsor validating need is mandatory. 8
Personal preferences can be set via the Options tab. Upon clicking the Options tab, the Mail option page is loaded as shown in Figure 1. Various information about your mail account are summarized in this page. 7
Users can also access the system from any Internet-connected computer–at home, at work or on the road. When users are on temporary duty, the portal makes it easy to stay in contact with co-workers at their permanent duty stations in real-time. Additionally, users can set their bookmarks or favorite pages on the Portal, and hence access them anytime, anywhere. 5
