The only current Tide player who might be able to relate to this level of attention out of high school is Smith, regarded as the nation’s top offensive line prospect a few years ago. He said teammates have told him they thought he would be arrogant, and had the same fear for Jones.

“They thought he was going to be, but he’s a hard worker,” Smith said. “He’s not out boasting about, what (he’s) going to do. He just lets his actions speak louder than his words.”

Image via Wikipedia Since the decline of the Ole Miss and Tulane rivalries, LSU has not developed a signature football rival. While Auburn’s rivalries against Alabama and Georgia may overshadow its rivalry with LSU, in recent years, LSU’s biggest rival has been the Auburn Tigers. The two share more than just a nickname, as they have both enjoyed success in the SEC’s Western Division and plenty of memorable match ups.

CST will once again be the home for re-broadcasts of LSU football games in 2008 as the network will air all 12 of the Tigers regular-season games beginning with the season-opener against Appalachian State next weekend. LSU coach Les Miles welcomed 105 players to campus on Sunday as the Tigers opened camp in preparation for the 2008 football season.

Davenport has played little this season, appearing in only eight tournaments. Although she won two of them, her record in Grand Slam events has been discouraging.

Lindsay won her match today in the US Open as she defeated Russia’s Alisa Kleybanova with a 7-5, 6-3 win, she will now face Marion Bartoli. When Lindsay Davenport made her United States Open debut in 1991, Alisa Kleybanova was still a toddler.
